The Web Named Colors Palette on the left controls the background colors and the Web Named Colors Palette on the right controls the font colors. All 140 Web Named Colors are displayed and the colors are described with both their color names and their corresponding hex values. Below each of the web named colors palettes are text fields. Upon clicking the various colors, the color name will appear in the text field on the left and the hex value will appear in the right text field. You can also find the color names and hex values by hovering your mouse over the colors. By doing so you will find two different naming conventions. The first is the Web Named Color and the second is the corresponding Hex Value.
Hex Value refers to the 6-character code that web browsers use to read and display color. Hex Values are alphanumeric and contain numbers, letters or both. The Web Named Colors are unique in that Browsers can read and display the actual color names and the use of the Hex Values is not necessary, though Hex Values are preferred and fall within proper Internet protocol. Nonetheless, you may choose to use the actual Web Named Colors in the html code of your web pages, if you prefer this naming convention. However, please note that when you use Web Named Colors, you do not need to place a pound sign → # ← in the html code your web page, but when you use Hex Values, you do need to place the pound sign before the Hex Value. We will go over this color code convention further and provide actual examples, including css files and html files, sometime in the near future.
There are several different color palette configurations available outside of the Web Named Colors Palette. WebNamedColors.com can help you find many more color palette views, such as the color palette options and color code sites listed below:
